Things to do

Get wild and creative with a variety of different activities for all the family. Watch the Swooping Swallows fly around the Wolseley Centre or learn some bushcraft skills at our Forest School.

Perhaps you and your family would like to follow the Art Trail, or watch Peter Rabbit in a theatre production? There will be lots of different creative and nature-themed activities that will help you to work towards your Get Wild badge, click here for more details about our celebration badge!

Art Trail

Location: Across the Wolseley site

Date: Everyday throughout August

Last year local children drew the creatures of Wolseley. Follow the art trail around our stunning nature reserve to find the creatures they created. Why not have a go at drawing your own too!

Festival at Home

Date: 4th August

Download our Festival at Home Pack to create your very own Wildchild Festival at home.Packed full of ideas and creations to turn your festival at home into a magical experience. We will be encouraging families to hold their festival on 4th August and share your festival photos with us, we would love to see them!

Peter Rabbit with Quantum Theatre

Date: 7th August, 6.30pm

Join us for a special outdoor evening theatre production of Peter Rabbit. Peter Rabbit and his naughty cousin Benjamin know very well that they are not to go into Mr McGregor’s garden, but they cannot resist and soon they find themselves face to face with a snarling cat followed by Mr McGregor himself!  

How will they ever escape?  Can Old Mr Bunny come to the rescue in time?  And whatever will Mr McGregor make of all those footprints in the flower beds?

Join Peter and Benjamin on their hair-raising adventures in this enchanting adaptation of the much loved Beatrix Potter classic.

WilderNests

The Handmade Theatre will be showcasing their fabulous outdoor theatre production of WilderNests. Explore creatures such as foxes and squirrels, listen to stories and songs and engage all the senses.

Get wild badge

Get Wild Badge

Location: Lower Park Bank

Time: All day

This year we are running the Get Wild badge for the first time, an exciting challenge where you need to complete 50 wild activities in 2019 to earn yourself a badge. The Get Wild station will have a variety of exciting nature based activities for you to have a go at while being able to work towards your badge. Join us to Get Wild and sign up for your chance to earn a badge.

Construction Zone

Location: Lower Park Bank

Time: All day

Build your own creation using real tools and materials. We provide the equipment and you provide the ideas and the skills.  All we ask is that you create safely and our staff will be on hand to show you techniques to use the tools appropriately.  Dens, ships, cars, balancing toys, musical instruments – the possibilities are endless.  Just bring your ideas (and at least one adult to follow your instructions!)

Busy bee beach

Busy Bee Beach

Location: Boardwalk

Time: All day

Dig, play and relax in the beach by the lake! If you can find a busy bee in hidden in the sand you will win a packet of seeds to take home!

Wilder Staffordshire Wishing Tree

Wilder Staffordshire Wishing Tree

Location: Lower Park Bank

Time: All day

Come and get dressed up as a woodland creature and make a wish for the future of Staffordshire’s wildlife. Hang it on your local wildlife charity’s wishing tree and we will use your suggestions to inform our future startegies at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

Obstacle Course

Obstacle Course

Location: Upper Park Bank

Time: All day

Head on up to the obstacle course where you can crawl like a caterpillar, balance like a bird, squelch like a pig or clamber like a mountain goat! You will get muddy (that’s the best bit!) a change of clothes is advised.

Giant Water Slide

Location: Upper Park Bank

Time: All day

Join us on Park Bank for our biggest, water slide yet! Suitable for children and their grown ups, how soggy will you get? (we recommend waterproofs or a change of clothes!)

Yoga Squirrels

Yoga Squirrels

Location: Temple Lake

Time: Various times

Try out our brand new Yoga Squirrels activity, stretch, meditate and get in touch with nature. There will be regular taster sessions throughout the day at the Quiet Space Tipi.

Artist Activities

Location: Across the site

Time: All day

Dancing, drumming, sculpture, painting, natural crafts and lots more activities will on offer on the day and included in the price of your ticket.

Children of the Forest

Location: Badger Wood

Time: 12pm and 1pm

Look out for the performance of the Children of the Forest, an exciting art commission created by Jo Loki with Redbrook Heyes Community Primary School. Plus create some nature inspired artwork yourself at Jo’s workshop at 1pm.
