Things to do

Get wild and creative with a variety of different activities for all the family. Watch the Swooping Swallows fly around the Wolseley Centre or learn some bushcraft skills at our Forest School.

Perhaps you and your family would like to follow the Art Trail, or watch Peter Rabbit in a theatre production? There will be lots of different creative and nature-themed activities that will help you to work towards your Get Wild badge, click here for more details about our celebration badge!

Art Trail

Location: Across the Wolseley site

Date: Everyday throughout August except 12th & 24th

Last year local children drew the creatures of Wolseley. Follow the art trail around our stunning nature reserve to find the creatures they created. Why not have a go at drawing your own too!

Birthday party

Festival at Home

Location: At your home

Date: 4th August

Download our Festival at Home Pack to create your very own Wildchild Festival at home. Packed full of ideas and creations to turn your festival at home into a magical experience. The pack will show you how to create all the ingredients you need for a truly fabulous festival from making your own tipi and wildchild bunting to games and even more creations! We will be encouraging families to hold their festival on 4th August and share your festival photos with us, we would love to see them.

Peter Rabbit with Quantum Theatre (SOLD OUT)

Date: 7th August, 6.30pm

Join us for a special outdoor evening theatre production of Peter Rabbit. Peter Rabbit and his naughty cousin Benjamin know very well that they are not to go into Mr McGregor’s garden, but they cannot resist and soon they find themselves face to face with a snarling cat followed by Mr McGregor himself!  

How will they ever escape?  Can Old Mr Bunny come to the rescue in time?  And whatever will Mr McGregor make of all those footprints in the flower beds?

Join Peter and Benjamin on their hair-raising adventures in this enchanting adaptation of the much loved Beatrix Potter classic.

The Handmade Theatre will be showcasing their fabulous outdoor theatre production of WilderNests. Explore creatures such as foxes and squirrels, listen to stories and songs and engage all the senses.

There will be several performances in the outdoor classroom throughout the day

A Sweep of Swallows

Bewonderment Machine and Swooping Swallows

Date: 20th August

Time: All day – check the Bewonderment Machine out on park bank and the Swooping Swallows can be spotted exploring the site

The Bird in the Hand Theatre are back for another WildChild Festival event. Find the swallows swooping over the reserve throughout the day and be amazed by the bewonderment machine!

Mini Wildchild Festival with The Fabularium (SOLD OUT)

Date: 24th August

Time: All day

Join us on Park Bank where you will find The Fabularium performing their new theatre production of The Hare and The Moon. We will also have some amazing Wildchild activities happening throughout the day too.

Date: Friday’s throughout August

Wildlings is a play group with a twist with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust! Come along and try new things outdoors. You could, get mucky making a mud pie to bug hunting in the woods. We play whatever the weather so please make sure your little ones and yourself are dressed suitably

Why not bring your own snack to toast over the campfire too!
